Ready to do some learning? You might be pleasantly surprised by the huge selection of free classes offered by the Toronto Public Library. The best part? They’re all online.
Offered by Gale Courses, there is a wide range of “highly interactive, instructor led courses that you can take entirely online. As a library card holder in good standing, you are entitled to these courses at no cost,” states their website.
Each course runs for six weeks and new sessions begin every month, so there is always time to check one out.
These are all instructor-led courses for professional development and personal enrichment.
The six-week format is an interactive learning environment, and an award is given for completion with passing scores.
Wondering what you can learn? There are 12 categories for the courses, and they include the following:
- Accounting and Finance
- Business
- College Readiness
- Computer Applications
- Design and Composition
- Healthcare and Medical
- Language and Arts
- Law and Legal
- Personal Development
- Teaching and Education
- Technology
- Writing and Publishing
Each of the categories has several courses you can choose from, with the monthly start date usually being mid-month.
Currently, some of the most popular courses being taken at the TPL include:
- Speed Spanish
- Accounting Fundamentals
- Introduction to QuickBooks Online
- Introduction to Interior Design
- Real Estate Investing
